In the draft of the book I'm working on (which is more of a contemporary fantasy/mythology), I decided to go there too, but in my novel, I make COVID happen. We'll see if the idea survives my editor's first glance. I really hesitated on whether or not people wanted to read about it, when we lived it so recently, but well, I figured, why not. And my agent suggested reading Lucy by the Sea too!

I can't wait to see what you've done with the pandemic in your novel. So excited for another book by you!

I love that idea - making COVID happen. The impact of the pandemic is so ingrained in our daily lives now.... I think it is an amazing time in history we all experienced.

Great introduction! We learned how to play Mah Jongg online, how to keep in touch via Zoom, and the pleasures of walking on Cape Ann’s beaches, and volunteering to vaccine hundreds of people online in Lynn.

Cheers for recommending your colleague’s work AND looking forward to seeing you in Boston if Beverly is not on your list.

Brava! Looking forward to reading it, Jeannie. 4 years ago this month I emailed my 3 kids to ask them to grab their dogs and spouses, leave Boston and NY and come home for a while. I thought it would be for a month. Sometimes unintended consequences are miraculous. Congratulations !

Michele, yes having adult children return home was a silver lining. Our relationship with them received an incredible booster... the closeness we achieved was lasting even though I still ache for what it did to their lives.....
